At FirstPhysio you will always be seen by a highly experienced physiotherapist who you can trust to make a diagnosis and advise as to the best way forward.
Our physios have a minimum of 15 years experience and are specialists in their chosen fields of interest, so you can be confident you will get the right diagnosis and the most appropriate treatment based on the most up to date research.
At FirstPhysio our aim is to ensure you receive the best quality care. Sometimes that might mean a referral to another specialty. If your problem needs further investigation we work closely with Consultants and Surgeons in Eastbourne, Brighton and Hastings as well as specialists across the country.
We also work closely with health professionals from other specialties so you can be confident we will find the best clinician for your particular problem if it is outside the scope of our own practice.
Sometimes it is difficult to know if a problem needs treatment or will get better on its own. If we are confident your problem will get better without treatment we will show you how best to make sure that is the case.
Sometimes you may only need one or two treatments to ‘kickstart’ the healing process and then nature takes over! You can trust that we do not suggest treatment unless necessary and we never over treat.
Most of us are aware of how inextricably linked our minds and bodies are and the impact our minds have on our health and wellbeing.
At FirstPhysio the research interests of our physios ensure that our patients experience an holistic approach to their care with the most up to date, scientifically proven mind/body interventions available.
We are more than happy to see you once for a diagnosis or for a second opinion if you are not sure your current therapy is the most appropriate way forward. We are also happy to see you whilst you await your NHS appointment - and hopefully we can cure you before you get it!
It is always difficult to know when you should seek treatment for pain or injury and we are aware how important it is these days to keep costs down. So, as a general rule, the majority of episodes of back pain resolve within 2 weeks, after which it is probably worth getting checked out by a physio. If you are a sports person and you have an acute injury, apply the RICE principle and gradually increase activity as pain allows and if things aren’t settling within 2 weeks visit the physio for a diagnosis and advice/treatment. If you have a recurring injury it is worth having it checked to establish why it recurs and how you can best prevent it.
Most importantly - you can always call us or email us for free if you are not sure!
Our physios have a minimum of 15 years experience and are specialists in their chosen fields. They are also accomplished sports people themselves who treat sports men and women from the elite to the recreational. FirstPhysio is one of the few clinics that also specialises in adolescent sports injuries.
How often do we ignore symptoms or attribute them to stress or just getting old, despite a niggling doubt somewhere deep inside that it may be the sign of something more serious. It is never a good thing to ignore symptoms. Book a consultation with one of our clinicians and be confident that you will get the right advice. Sometimes the stress of ‘not knowing’ creates more symptoms!
Living with long term pain and illness presents many challenges. At FirstPhysio we offer an holistic approach to helping our patients navigate their difficulties, an approach that insists you are not your illness and that there is more right with you than wrong with you. We have developed expertise that allows us to support you both physically and emotionally on your journey to living life well.
Yes we can ! Depending on your lifestyle, our physios can work with you to make sure you are optimizing your health and wellbeing. For example:
In the main Osteopaths and Chiropractors are involved with musculoskeletal work and tend predominantly to use their manipulative skills. Physiotherapists also treat spinal problems with manipulation but also deal with the rehabilitation of any condition, including neurological problems, womens' health, burns, intensive care etc. by physical means. As a result, the training of physiotherapists is broader and more diverse to reflect this.
When you arrive at the clinic we will ask you to fill in a registration form and your consent for treatment. Your appointment will include an assessment, clinical examination and appropriate treatment. Your physiotherapist will discuss with you the diagnosis and recommend a treatment plan or suggest a referral to another specialist should that be necessary. It is advisable to wear comfortable clothes that allow the physiotherapist to see the affected part of the body. If you prefer to bring shorts to change into that’s fine. You are welcome to bring someone with you if you wish. Young people, under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a consenting adult.
Our services are provided in a professional and friendly environment. Private rooms are used for all assessments and treatments. If you have any questions or concerns about your first visit please do ring or email us.
You can refer yourself to us or be referred by your general practitioner, physiotherapist or consultant.
We are recognised by most major health insurance companies but advise checking the terms of your policy before embarking on a course of treatment.
We accept payment by credit/debit card, cash or cheque.
All our physiotherapists are HCPC registered and members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
